The sitting of the public organizational committee on preparation of the celebration of Vasyl Symonenko, a National Poet 75th Anniversary of Birth was held. Mykola Tomenko, the Vice Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is the Chairman of the Committee.
During the sitting occasions and celebrations of the anniversary in Cherkasy and Poltava regions and in Kyiv city were discussed. In particular, celebration will be held in Biivtsi and Tarandyntsi villages as it is native poet´s lands. The international conference will be held in Cherkasy National University and the memorial desk would be opened on the house of publishing house in Cherkasy where Vasyl Symonenko used to work. Also it is planned to hold reading of the poet´s works in Kyiv.
Organizational committee appealed to Kyiv City State Administration with the proposition to introduce in schools the lessons of Vasyl Symonenko poetry, also suggested that the First National Television Channel shows the documental film on poet´s life and the National Radio Company of Ukraine should represent series of radio programs on life and work of prominent Ukrainian.
Also Organizational Committee resolved to introduce extra edition of "Lebedi Materynstva" (Swans of Motherhood) disk, edited by the Fund "Fair Country" together with the National Radio Company of Ukraine.
The Chairman of the Organizational Committee in the end of the meeting declared: "Previous power feared Vasyl Symonenko, present one passes him by but still Ukrainian people respect and accept him as a real Great Ukrainian."
